We are using a new online service called Register with a GP Surgery that makes it easy to register with a GP Surgery.
Just fill in this quick online form to start the process. You do not need proof of address or immigration status, ID or an NHS number.
The service is designed and run by the NHS, so your personal information is safe. It cuts our administrative workload and makes it easier for you to register.
Paper forms are still available if you need one. You can download the form here.

Temporary Patients
If you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one, you can register as a temporary or permanent patient. You can register as a temporary patient for up to 3 months.
After three months you will have to re-apply to be a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.
If your application for temporary registration is refused, you can still receive any treatment you need immediately for up to 14 days.
To register as a temporary resident with a GP:
- use the find a GP directory to find GP surgeries in the area – you'll need a surgery that covers the area where you're staying
- contact the surgery and ask to register as a temporary resident
You will need to fill out a temporary services form, which you can get from GP surgeries.
How to register with a GP surgery
Why should I register as a temporary resident?
You can register temporarily with a GP near where you're staying if you're ill or need medical advice while you're away from home – for example, if you're working, studying or on holiday.
If you are already registered with a GP surgery registering as a temporary patient with another practice will not change this.
